With the Intercounty season complete the attention is now turning to the club championships with Monaghan set to get their competitions underway the weekend of the 9th and 10th of August. The County board recently held a launch night where representatives from all 10 senior clubs were in attendance.
Sean Mc Caffrey went along where he spoke firstly to the teams who are in group 1, namely Scotstown, Truagh, Cremartin, Clontibret and Corduff. Damien Mc Ardle is captain of the Scotstown team who are the current champions and he remarked at the outset that they know they will be the side everyone will be looking to beat
Ballybay, Inniskeen, Maghercaloone, Latton and Aughnamullen make up group 2 in the Senior championship and Sean spoke to representatives from those clubs, and firstly Ballybays Christopher Mc Guinness who remarked it is hard to believe that it championship time again
