Truagh woman gears up for 48 hour stay in treehouse. A Co Monaghan woman is set to take up residency in a treehouse for 48 hours. Indeed, the stay is in an effort to raise much needed funds for her community. Gwen Corrigan is on a mission to raise as much funding for Ballyoisin Church Restoration as possible. Furthermore, not only will Gwen be living 26 feet above the ground at St Mellans GAA grounds, she will be dressed as a bird for the duration of her stay. The Truagh native will begin this intriguing journey of living in a tree, which is located along the N2, from 3pm on Friday afternoon until 3pm on Sunday.
Moreover, communication with Gwen will be from her balcony in her treehouse to the people who will visit and show their support during the 48 hour period. A sleeping bag and a camping toilet will be all Gwen will have in her new home. This isn’t the first time the local woman took on this novel idea. She did it in 1998 to raise money for Knockconan National School. Additionally, through major fundraising efforts the community have raised €1.1 million to date for the restoration of Ballyoisin Church. Everyone is hopeful that they can get much closer to the needed final €400k.
Ronan Gargan has been out speaking with Gwen who hopes that people from far and near will branch out and support her this weekend:
