Colm Carthy told a recent MD meeting that recent changes have made "a lot of people very concerned for the services provided".

Minister Heather Humphreys has today announced €21.5 million for 27 landmark regeneration projects in rural communities across the country.

Councillors had voiced concern over the vacant posts, saying people had difficulties in accessing the service. 

Social Protection Minister Humphreys welcomed government approval of the changes.

The funding will also assist elderly and vulnerable groups in developing their digital skills.

The funding is part of the ARISE scheme that helps Social Enterprises promote the positive impact they have on their local communities.

The hospitality sector reported a big drop off in business since the midnight curfew was introduced.

Councillor Sarah O'Reilly says shortages are now at "crisis level".

The news has been welcomed by parents, staff, and students.

Last month, Aldi said it wouldn't proceed with plans for the store after "unsuccessful negotiations" with the local authority on flood relief works.
