There were 1,694 people receiving Jobseeker's Allowance in Cavan and 1,182 in Monaghan in May of this year.
That's according to figures released by the Minister for Social Protection, Dara Calleary, in response to a parliamentary question from Deputy John Paul O'Shea.
Deputy O'Shea asked for a breakdown of all people currently receiving Jobseeker's Allowance per Intreo area.
In response, the Department said it does not maintain Jobseeker's Allowance statistics by Intreo catchment area, as these do not correspond directly with the statistical units used for reporting.
The figures instead provide a county by county breakdown of recipients, with a total of 105,601 people receiving Jobseeker's Allowance nationwide in May 2026.
