Back in 2017 the Waking the Feminist Movement exploded onto our screens, radio, social media, and even saw celebrities throughout the world come out and support the movement. It came as a result of the Abbey theatre’s lack of female representation.
Since then there has been more focus on including women in roles outside of admin within the theatre community with The Gate Theatre in Dublin commended for hiring their first female artistic director
But perhaps Dublin is a bit behind the times because in Monaghan for the past 20 years, Eileen Costello has been working as an Artistic Director and is the one in charge of the programme for the Garage Theatre.
