A local councillor says the lack of a bus stop or any form of shelter at Knockconan in Ballyoisin is an "accident waiting to happen."
Cllr Bronagh McAree is pushing for the NTA and the bus stop enhancement scheme to address the matter urgently.
Cllr McAree says children from the estates in Ballyoisin have no other option but to stand on the side of the N2 in the dark waiting on a bus in the mornings.
In the evenings, the risk to safety is further heightened as children have to cross the main road which is extremely problematic given the time of year.
The local councillor described the current situation as "extremely dangerous" and is calling for Monaghan County Council to be pro-active with this issue.
