A Co Cavan man who was impacted financially due to Storm Eowyn has praised the Government's Humanitarian Scheme.
Seamus Quinn from Cavan availed of the scheme after damage caused by the storm cut off his supply to water and electricity for four days.
Seamus told this morning's Joe Finnegan show that he calculated a bill of €210 which incorporated funds he had spent on purchasing coal and a cylinder of gas, as well as food he had lost as a result of having no fridge or freezer.
The Cavan man says after sending off his application, within a two month period he got word back from the department that he would receive €207.50 as opposed to the €210 that he had initially requested.
While others have shared their frustration over losing out on compensation due to difficulties with the application process, Seamus says he personally could not find any reason to fault the process.
