A Co Cavan woman featured on last week's episode of First Dates Ireland. Katie Lynch from Ballyjamesduff is the ultimate First Dates fan having initially applied for the English version of the show back when she was 18. Fast forward to four years later, Katie told Northern Sound that she was only more than happy to grasp the opportunity with both hands when producers contacted her to appear on the Irish version of the popular dating show.
Katie who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer four years ago said she also wanted to use this opportunity as a platform to give awareness to young women who are going through the same thing and to let them know that it's "ok to open up and talk." The 23-year-old said it's important for other young women who find themselves in a similar situation to know that they too can come out of the other side of their cancer journey experience with the upmost confidence:
