"Consistency is key" for the Monaghan Tidy Towns Team.
Following today's IBAL results, Emer Brennan of Monaghan Tidy Towns says staying in the top five is a "top priority" for the group.
Despite retaining its top five position, four of the ten sites surveyed fell short of cleanliness for being moderately littered.
These sites are predominately located in the centre of the town, something which Emer described as "surprising" due to results in previous years.
Emer highlighted the work of council staff as well as local business have shown great responsibility.
Speaking to Northern Sound, the local woman also paid tribute to voluntary groups who she described as extremely diligent and who put in a superb effort 52 weeks of the year.
In a statement posted online, Monaghan County Council said: "Monaghan shines again. This fantastic result reflects our town's litter-free streets, tidy public spaces and beautifully maintained landscaping. A huge shout out to everyone who works hard to keep Monaghan looking its best."
