The beloved Teddy Bear Hospital just outside Bawnboy will be closing its doors at the end of this year.
The owner, Anke Morgenroth has confirmed she'll be retiring from the business after a number of decades operating in West Cavan.
Bear Essentials and the Teddy Bear Hospital will be no more unless someone can be found to carry on the magic. Anke said she will be closing the doors on the 31st of December 2025.
She described the decision as not being easy. Anke revealed the news on the Wider View programme earlier today where she described the decision to retire as a very bittersweet moment.
Over the past 25 years, she has had the joy of helping countless Teddy Bears (and their humans!) find new life, love, and comfort.
She said, "we have met so many kind and caring people, families, collectors, and little ones who've brought their treasured friends to us for a bit of "bear care."
Lots of Teddy Bears were made during the "Build Your Bear" workshops for families, schools, charity and corporate events.
As they are getting ready to say goodbye, they want to share one more memory and everyone is invited to the Closing Celebration, One Last Bear Essentials Hug on the 6th of December between 1 and 4 pm in the Silver Bear Centre, Bawnboy, Co.Cavan. "There will be free festive treats like German stollen, mince tarts, hot chocolate and mulled wine for everyone."
"We will have a closing down sale of 25% on everything in our Teddy Bear Gift Shop until the 20th of December, when the shop will close for good. The online shop will be closing on the 31st of December." "From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your love, loyalty, and friendship. You've made every single day a joy. We also like to thank everyone who run events in the Silver Bear Centre especially the Arts & Heritage Cavan County Council.
