Five people killed in Co Louth collision

The three men and two women who died were all under the age of 25.

Five young people all under the age of 25 have died and three others have been injured in a road crash in Dundalk in Co Louth.

It’s understood they are all from the Northeast including the Northern Sound region. Gardaí have said the deceased were from Carrickmacross and Drumconrath in Co Meath, along with one woman from Scotland.

The collision occurred on the L3168 in the townland of Gibstown, Dundalk involving two vehicles and a number of fatalities have occurred.

Gardaí, the vehicles and bodies of the deceased all remain at scene. A number of people have also been taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.
