A Carrickmacross councillor has branded an incident of a man brandishing a knife in broad daylight in the town as 'disturbing'.
28 year old David Covaciu with an address on the Ardee Road, Magheross, Carrickmacross was charged with 3 counts of brandishing a knife in a public place along with threatening and abusive language.
The incident was widely shared on social media which ultimately led to Mr Covaciu being charged. He's been remanded in custody to appear at Cavan District Court via video link on Thursday.
Local councillor Peter Conlon has condemned the incident calling it disturbing. He says the people of Carrickmacross aren't used to this kind of behaviour
