A Co. Monaghan club has been recognised for their hard work at a national conference last weekend.
Newbliss Macra crowned the Emerging Club of the Year at the Macra National Conference in Rosscarbery, Co. Cork.
The club competed against two other Macra clubs for the title.
At the conference in Cork, members of Newbliss Macra had to showcase the work they had done throughout the year, including holding table quizzes, jiving classes, first aid courses, and charity events.
The club said that winning the award is a real honour and a huge boost for their members.
Rockcorry based farmer, Caoimhe McGorman said that its members aren't just from Newbliss, and that it isn't just for farmers.
Speaking to Northern Sound, she said: "Within Monaghan there is big support for Macra. I think a lot of people think Macra is just for farmers, but it's not, it's for everyone.
"Our club is from all different backgrounds, we have teachers, nurses, students. That mix makes it so strong, it's about community fun, and friendship, as much as it's about farming," Ms. McGorman added.
The Newbliss club can be reached on all social media platforms.
"We'd really encourage people to get involved.
"It's not about having meetings, it's about catching up with people, and making new friendships."
