Monaghan County Council is reminding people of the dangers of using a mobile phone while driving.
It says that using a mobile phone while driving is one of the top causes of serious road collisions.
According to the RSA, people are four times more likely to be in a road collision if they are using a mobile phone while driving.
It is reminding that people caught using a mobile phone will face a €120 fine and three penalty points, or up to 5 points and €2,000 fine if taken to court.
The advice is to stay focused, stay safe and keep eyes on the road, not the phone.
