A Monaghan GP has warned that flu is hitting Ireland "harder" and even "earlier" this year.
As we move into the Christmas season, Dr Ilona Duffy says more people will be gathered together and flu will rise rapidly as a result of that.
While the local GP understands there is a certain element of vaccine fatigue, she warned that this year's flu outbreak has already led to fatalities.
Due to concerns, Dr Duffy says the HSE has ask GPs to run late clinics to ensure that respiratory symptoms are seen and kept out of hospital.
