The official opening of a new gym in a county Cavan school took place this morning.
St Aidan's comprehensive in Cootehill held an event this morning to thank their sponsors.
Speaking to Northern Sound, PE teacher Owen Lennon said the project for the gym has been in motion for two and half years.
The idea came about as the school got funding for equipment but had no where to put it.
The school also held many fundraisers to raise money for the gym, including a teacher vs student match, a clothes collection and colour runs.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Mr Lennon said the community really got behind the project.
He said: "We're here to thank all the people who got behind the project. All the local sponsors, community, Cootehill GAA really got behind it and drove it on.
"As well as that our staff here in St. Aidan's really positive about it, our prinicpal and board of management and a positive push with it.
"Thankfully, we got it up and running. Now its a great facility for the school, its great for the students, and the community," Mr. Lennon added.
