Cavan boy Leon Briody has passed away

The 9-year-old had been battling cancer since 2020.

The death has occurred of Leon Briody, from Castletara, Co. Cavan, peacefully at home today.
Leon, age 9, was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2020 and had been battling the illness ever since.

He has been experiencing multiple relapses and underwent treatments including a bone marrow transplant and CAR-T transplant.

Dutchy's Fitness based in Corlurgan Business park in Cavan organised a special fundraising event in his name last Sunday.

He is sadly missed by his loving parents Alan and Diane, his brothers Fionán, Caolán, and his sister Allie, his grandparents, Eileen and Patsy Briody and Rita McEntee.

Reposing at home on Friday 12th September, from 4pm to 8pm and on Saturday 13th from 4pm to 8pm. House private at all other times.

A one way system will be in operation entering from Cootehill Road/Cortubber and exit via Castletara /Castlemanor Nursing Home.

Requiem Mass on Sunday at 1pm in St Patrick’s Church, Castletara followed by cremation in Lakelands Crematorium, Dublin Road, Cavan.

Family flowers only please; donations in lieu to Cavan-Monaghan Palliative Care, please.
