Listen Back: Alan Johnson elected Chair Monaghan's Community Safety Partnership. Cllr Alan Johnson has been elected as the Chairperson of Monaghan's new Local Community Safety Partnership.
The safety partnership includes a broader range of members than its predecessor, the Joint Policing Committee.
Furthermore, mandatory members include local councillors; local authority officials; An Garda Síochána; representatives from the HSE; and the Child and Family Agency Tusla. Also, community and resident representatives. Cllr Sinead Flynn elected as vice chairperson of the safety partnership.
The objective of the LCSP is to improve community safety and well-being through a collaborative, community-led approach. Indeed, bringing together residents, local authorities, state services and community representatives to create and implement local community safety plans.
Cllr Johnston says he is looking forward to working with the Partnership to develop and implement a Community Safety Plan for Monaghan. He spoke with Ronan Gargan in detail about his new role.
