Local student graduates as mental health ambassador for St Pat's. Laragh Corcoran of Our Lady's Secondary School, Castleblayney recently graduate as a St Patrick's Mental Health Services' mental health ambassador.
For 14 years, St Patrick's Mental Health Services has run a Transition Year Programme. Indeed, with over 100 students from across Ireland taking part annually.
The week-long programme runs five times during the academic year between October and March, with 20 to 25 students per programme.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Laragh believes mental health is something which is often spoke about yet many people, particularly her own age don't know how to deal with it.
As a result of taking part in the programme, Laragh says she received first-hand insight into how a mental healthcare service operates and the experiences of those with mental health difficulties.
Laragh hopes that through her recent training, she can offer hope and support to those who may be struggling.
