A local councillor is calling on Monaghan County Council to address road safety concerns on the R181 at Lough Egish "once and for all."
The road starts on the border where Keady meets Castleblayney and continues to the Lough Egish Cross and from there through Shantonagh village and onto Monaghan's county boundary with Cavan.
Cllr Gilliland says what is of "grave concern" is the stretch of road from Lough Egish Cross to the county boundary.
This is something that the local representative has raised on many occasions.
This particular road also services Lough Egish Food Park which has over 1,000 jobs directly employed there.
Cllr Gilliland recently met with two potential companies looking to relocate and expand their enterprise in the food park and the surrounding area for warehousing and food production however their main concern was the state of the road.
Cllr Gilliland said it's "not good enough" in this day and age to have such a large amount of employment in a rural area and more looking to come yet we can't provide the proper infrastructure for them.
He's been speaking with Jodie Curran.
