The Education minister has shown utter disrespect for Leaving Cert students according to the Labour party.

It was revealed last night that Calculated Grades would not be available until September 7th, three weeks later than normal.

Labour's Education Spokesperson is criticising Norma Foley for announcing the news through a press release, despite being asked about a date in the Dail earlier in the day.

Deputy Aodhan O'Riordan says it's unfair that students will hear about it through the media.

Meanwhile, a local Fianna Fáil Senator has called for a change in the way the students will receive their results.

Robbie Gallagher says the results should be made available online at the same time for all students.

He says some school principals have voiced concern that students who receive their results in person this year may take issue with their grades and take this grievance directly to their teachers.

The Fianna Fáil Senator says that issuing grades online would prevent against this.

He told the Seanad that the issuing of results in person could lead to some "difficult situations" as a result of the calculated grading system:
