Gardaí had to temporarily restrict access to some streets in the city to ensure public and fellow officer safety.

19 people have been arrested in Dublin following a second night of trouble in the city centre.

Gardai say a group of around 200 young people threw glass bottles at officers on South Anne Street at around 9pm.

Two Gardaí were inquired and received treatment along with one Garda vehicle damaged in the course of the evening.

Public order units cleared crowds from the area.

One person who was not partaking in the disorder was assaulted and taken to hospital.

Gardai came under fire again in Temple Bar Square just after 10pm.

Gardai closed off a number of streets and 19 people were arrested for public order offences.

Dublin's Lord Mayor Hazel Chu believes it's a small group of people involved in the anti-social behaviour.
