'In May, 8,718 transactions were done via Park Magic - over three times the amount 12 months ago'

Almost 3,000 people have signed up for eParking in Monaghan town in its first year of operation.

Online transactions make up approximately one in every eight parking ticket purchases.

Cashless parking was introduced in the county town on a trial basis in April 2021, before being promoted on a wider basis.

Since then and up to the end of May of this year, 2,962 people signed up for a Park Magic account, with between one and two hundred accounts being created each month.

In May, 8,718 transactions were done via Park Magic - over three times the amount 12 months ago.

In addition to account holders, Monaghan County Council processed 4,393 one-off transactions since the system was introduced, covering 1,311 individual vehicles.

An additional 2,404 transactions were processed via the parkmagic app and website.

In a statement to Northern Sound News in relation to the figures, Monaghan County Council says it has noticed a steady increase in new accounts and online transactions, and has seen a "substantial increase in online use" since the start of 2022.
