A local TD has called on the Department of Education to approve additional accommodation for a Co Cavan primary school.
Brendan Smith raised the issue of a 25 year old prefab on the grounds of Curravagh National School in Glangevlin in the Dail recently.
He said that on the advice of the Department the school partitioned that prefab some years ago so that it would have some accommodation for shared special education teacher, English language teacher, secretary and principal space.
He said that the school requesting that the additional accommodation to be provided would equal the size of its existing prefab, which he describes as a basic ask.
In response to his questions, Minister Hildegarde Naughton said her department is in receipt of an application for accommodation under the additional school accommodation scheme for the school.
She said the Department previously indicated to the school authority that it is prepared to approve a small special education tuition room for the school.
