An agreement has been reached that will end a long running dispute over CE supervisor pensions.
The scheme involves a gratuity payment of 2 weeks’ pay per year of service subject to a certain cap and provides for a maximum payment of €18,600 for CE Supervisors and €16,800 for Assistant Supervisors, depending on their length of service in the relevant period.
Fianna Fáil TD for Cavan-Monaghan & North Meath, Niamh Smyth, has welcomed the agreement.
Meanwhile, CE supervisors and CE assistant supervisors have been seeking for several years, through their union representatives, SIPTU and Forsa, the allocation of Exchequer funding to implement a 2008 Labour Court recommendation relating to the provision of a pension scheme for CE supervisors and CE assistant supervisors who are employed by CE scheme sponsors.
"This was an issue that my colleagues and I in Fianna Fáil campaigned on in opposition and I am pleased that we have now been able to deliver on it in Government,” Deputy Smyth.
“CE Schemes are designed to help those in long-term unemployment or those who are disadvantaged or find it impossible to find mainstream work in their local communities.
“They provide childcare, elderly-care and drug rehabilitation services and these supervisors are a vital part of these schemes running effectively.
"I have continuously raised the plight of CE Supervisors and their pension entitlements and I very much welcome this news today that a resolution has been found as these supervisors are doing fantastic work on the various schemes in our towns and villages across rural Ireland.”
