Artist behind recently damaged Rossmore Park sculpture 'shocked' and 'disappointed'

The artist behind a sculpture that was recently damaged in Rossmore Park says the incident is "shocking" and "disappointing".

Earlier this week, "Spike the Giant", who's located close to Rossmore Castle, was vandalised.

Marc Kelly, who brought Spike to life, told Northern Sound that he was taken aback by the scale of the damage.

Spike is one of the Drumlin Giants, which is a series of sculptures scattered across the Monaghan town forest park, brought to life by Marc and storyteller Paul Bond.

The incident is being treated as criminal damage, and anyone with information is asked to contact Monaghan Garda Station.

Marc says it's disappointing for everyone who was involved in bringing the sculptures to Rossmore Park, but added that plans are in place to "make things right":
