Cavan and Monaghan have made the list of the top ten most affordable counties in Ireland to save a deposit for a home.
Switcher.ie calculated the deposits first-time buyers needed to purchase a home based on median annual earnings, typical property prices and household savings rates from the CSO.
It is now taking a typical first-time buyer couple almost five years to save for a deposit to buy a home in Ireland. Longford has emerged the most affordable location for first-time buyers, with Dún Laoghaire in Dublin proving to be the most expensive.
The research shows it would take a single mortgage applicant more than 46 years to save for an apartment in Dún Laoghaire. Longford, Leitrim, Donegal, Mayo, Roscommon, Tipperary, Limerick, Monaghan, Cavan, Sligo are the 10 most affordable counties.
