A Cavan publican and off-licence owner says that while he hasn't see a big change in people's purchasing habits when it comes to alcohol, because of his businesses' close proximity to the border, "it wouldn't take much to drive them away either".
Sean McGuire of the Yukon Bar and Off-Licence in Belturbet told the Wider View this afternoon that people bulk bought their drink last week because of the introduction of minimum pricing on alcohol and the fears they had around that.
However, over the past few days business has returned to normal for the Cavan publican but despite this, he remains mindful that cheaper alcohol is available to his customers just a few miles away in Northern Ireland.
