The Cathaoirleach and CE of Cavan County Council are in Canada this week strengthening ties between Cavan and Toronto.
The sister county relationship between Monroe County NY and Cavan has been renewed and is a friendship that was built on the legacy of US civil war hero Col Patrick O'Rourke.
Officials from Cavan County Council have also met with members of the Cavan Monaghan Association in Toronto and visited the Cavan Monaghan township, north of the city.
Louise Rudden is the president of the Association in the Canadian city which endeavours to bring the community together and showcases the very best of Cavan produce there.
Meanwhile, people from Co Cavan migrated to the area in the 1800s and built strong ties to their home county in the intervening years.
