'I will be chatting to every year group about the consequences of bullying and what can happen if it's really bad'

Brendan Fay asked that the local authority write to the Communications Minister to highlight the point.

Councillor Coyle told a recent County Council meeting that "teachers are at the front line of this issue".

The Department of Education stated that teachers would be consulted and invited to make submissions.

She says she is glad that the Minister is acting on this now and it's a welcome change.

“Be Buddies Not Bullies” was established in Eden’s name to raise money for Irish anti-bullying charities.

Cuncillor Seamus Coyle says the lack of sanctions on bullying in the community needs urgent attention.
