Niall McKenna who is chairperson of the A5 'Enough is Enough' campaign hopes that "common sense will prevail." Yesterday, a legal challenge to the proposed 58-mile dual carriageway scheme began at Belfast High Court. According to Niall, while there has been previous hearings in court on this issue, this marks the first time that the families of road victims have got the opportunity to put their point of view across in the setting of a courtroom.
Niall was also one of several hundred people who took part in yesterday's rally in support of the A5 road scheme. The group, which included the relatives of people killed in crashes on the road, gathered at the High Court in Belfast. The second day of proceedings got underway this morning at 10am.
