Cllr Paudge Connolly says lives are being impacted due to this current situation.

A local councillor is calling on the HSE and Minister for Heath Stephen Donnelly to reinstate hearing tests for children under the age of four in Monaghan. According to Cllr Paudge Connolly hearing tests for children under the age of four have been on hold for the last six months due to a lack of resources.

Speaking to Northern Sound about the issue, Cllr Connolly said that the current situation is putting financial pressure on local parents who have been left with no other option but to go private.  The local representative said that early intervention is "key" when it comes to detecting hearing problems in a child and can determine their future quality of life. Cllr Connolly is now calling on the appropriate steps to ensure that this vital service is reinstated and that additional resources are put in place to deal with the backlog of those awaiting tests.
