Caution urged on water locally during good spell of weather

Water Safety Ireland are urging people to be cautious on local lakes and rivers during the good spell of weather.

Water Safety Awareness week is taking place all this week, which is encouraging people to enjoy the water but respect the risk.

78 people drowned last year, the same as in 2023.

Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show this morning, CEO of Water Safety Ireland, Joanne Walsh has this advice for those in the region taking to the water over the summer.
