A Co Cavan based vet has issued a warning surrounding the use of anti-freeze.
Aoife Flanagan is a vet from the Cavan vet clinic is reminding motorists to keep bottles of anti-freeze away from their pets as it can be lethal if consumed.
If consumed by pets it can prove fatal, so you are being called on to be extra careful when using it and storing it away.
If you suspect your cat or dog has come into contact with anti-freeze you are being urged to seek immediate veterinary assistance.
The local vet says it's something that isn't spoken about much and due to the sweet scent of antifreeze, pets will consume it without realising how bad it is.
