Cllr Feeley expressed his wish that the invasion of Ukraine would come to an end and peace would be restored to their nation.

The Courthouse in Cavan Town was lit up blue and yellow yesterday, to commemorate Ukrainian Independence Day on foot of a request by the Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council, Cllr John Paul Feeley.

Members of the local Ukrainian community were invited to attend, as were representatives from Cavan County Local Development.

A short ceremony took place at 9 o'clock yesterday evening where the Ukrainian National Anthem was sung, and a representative of the Ukrainian community thanked the people of Cavan for their hospitality during this period of immense tragedy and upheaval for the Ukrainian people.
