A community benefit fund in Cavan worth almost €18,000 has opened for applications.
Applications will be accepted from local community groups, clubs and projects situated within 10km of Carrickallen Wind Farm, which is owned in partnership by Galetech Group, the Stradone-based renewable energy company, and its joint venture partners Greencoat Renewables.
The window for applications will close on Thursday, 12th March 2026.
Through this funds, new projects can be started, or existing projects can be expanded to improve the local community, school or neighbourhood.
The Carrickallen Community Fund has been running annually since 2023. Some of the successful projects that have received funding from this fund include the 'The Daily Mile' project at Scoil Maodhóg as well as the associated 10km Fun Run in Glebe, a Bunnoe Senior Social Gathering event to strengthen social networks for the elderly in the community, and a 3-day 'Looking Back to Look Forward' history and heritage event by Laragh United.
