A Cavan County Councillor is calling for clarification for both tenants and landlords.
This is in relation to the proposed reform of the landlord tenants regulations, and the concerns that both sides have.
Carmel Brady raised the issue at the most recent meeting of Cavan County Council.
It comes as the Residential Tenancies Bill 2026 sees an introduction of a minimum tenancy term of six years.
Cllr Brady outlined that the protecting tenants is vitally important, the new limitations on landlords' ability to reclaim their properties disincentives new landlords from entering the market, and may drive current landlords out of it.
Speaking to Northern Sound Cllr Brady outlined the concerns she has heard.
