While performing a Mandatory Intoxicant Testing checkpoint in the Arva area on Sunday, a car stopped short.

Gardaí from the Cavan Roads Policing Unit made their presence known over the bank holiday weekend with several arrests for motoring offences.

While performing a Mandatory Intoxicant Testing checkpoint in the Arva area on Sunday, a car stopped short. Gardaí subsequently spoke to the driver, who appeared to have difficulty in locating a driving licence. It was soon established the driver was disqualified and an arrest was subsequently made. The car was detained under Section 41 Road Traffic Act and the driver is charged to the District Court.

Then, late on bank holiday Monday night, following receipt of a report of erratic driving another driver was arrested in the Cloverhill area on suspicion of drunk driving. It turned out the driver was over the legal alcohol limit and also now faces Court.
