An award-winning Cavan photographer is appealing for others to "get themselves checked" following her recent battle with breast cancer. Lorraine Teevan felt a sore lump under her arm pit, which turned out to be cancer located at the side of her breast. Prior to this Lorraine had been checking herself regularly, due to a strong family history of breast cancer in recent years.
Despite receiving the "all clear" from a routine mammogram in February, Lorraine was told she had "extensive" breast cancer at the beginning of July. Speaking on today's Joe Finnegan Show, the well-known photography is encouraging others to "get checked" no matter how big or small their symptoms may be. "The message is to just look after yourself and to keep on top of things," Lorraine explained.
