'CCTV is badly needed in Monaghan town'

It has emerged this week that the long-awaited CCTV system for Monaghan Town has crossed the final approval hurdle. Monaghan County Council and An Garda Siochana recently made a presentation to the National Advisory Group in respect of the matter and received a very positive response.

Cllr Brian McKenna - Chairman of Monaghan Joint Policing Committee - says the application will now progress to the Garda Commissioner for final approval. He pointed out that given the positive response from the National Advisory Group, he is hopeful that the project will get the seal of approval from Commissioner, Drew Harris.

Cllr McKenna added that CCTV was "badly needed" in Monaghan town.
