A community based CCTV system has been given the go ahead for Monaghan Town.
The Garda Commissioner, Drew Harris gave the authorisation for the installation of the camera system on streets in the town.
Monaghan Gardai in conjunction with Monaghan County Council have said they are delighted to welcome the CCTV system under the Garda Siochana Act 2005.

Local Gardaí say that this means we can now proceed to the final phase of the project which allows for procurement and the installation of the system.
Local Councillor Brian McKenna says there is no doubt this initiative will benefit the community and greatly enhance public safety.
