The first of a two part documentary series on Larry Goodman aired last night.
"Goodman: Too big to fail" was on RTE last night.
It follows the story of Larry Goodman, to becoming the most famous name in Irish beef.
Cavan native, Ciaran Cassidy was the director of the programme.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show this morning, he said that Goodman's story is an extraordinary period of Irish history.
He explained Goodman's role in the beef industry, and how it became such a big story in Irish life.
Mr. Cassidy highlighted Mr. Goodman's attempts to take over Baileborough Co-op.
He said: "I remember that era. He attempted to take over Bailieborough Co-op. These were huge events, they were seismic. When you watch the footage, all the farmers are being canvassed.
"It was a massive public campaign. Larry was at the forefront of it. He had to present himself, people wanted to know who he was. Nowadays he doesn't do any interviews. You kind of wonder, which Larry is there? In the tribunal, he did say that there is a part of him that regrets to publicity, and that he wishes he had been a hermit," Mr. Cassidy added.
