A Co Cavan solicitor has been appointed as a Judge of the District Court.
At a meeting this week, the government agreed to nominate Brendan O'Reilly, of O'Reilly Solicitors in Cootehill, as an Ordinary Judge of the District Court.
He was nominated alongside Máire Connelly, after the retirements of Judge Patrick Durcan and Terence J.W. Finn.

The Government has formally advised President Micheal D. Higgins of the nomination in accordance with constitutional practice.
