Councillor Colm Carthy passed a motion seeking gardaí to be present at times when illegal parking is at its highest.

A letter has been sent to Carrickmacross gardaí seeking a greater presence in the town at school times to make the area safer and ease the traffic flow.

While Councillor Colm Carthy highlighted a lack of parking in the town, he told a recent Carrickmacross-Castleblayney MD that a lot of people are parking illegally when picking up their children from school.

He also asked the Council to consider adding additional road markings to highlight areas where parking is prohibited and called for greater availability of traffic wardens.
