There was over 500 privately owned cars taxed in the Northern Sound region in March of this year.
That's according to figures released by the CSO.
223 privately owned cars were taxed in Monaghan in March 2026, down from 270 in February.
Meanwhile, in Co. Cavan, 311 privately owned cars were taxed last month, a decrease from 328 in February.
The cars in the statistics included new and second hand cars, of all petrol types.
Nationally, the overall number of new private cars licensed in March 2026 grew by 5% when compared wit March 2025
According to the CSO,the number of used imported cars licensed increased by 34% in March 2026 when compared with March 2025.
It also noted that the number of new private electric cars licensed in March
2026 rose by 39% when compared with March 2025.
This means the share of electric vehicles (EVs) among new private cars from January to March 2026 was 23% compared with 17% in the same period of 2025.
