'Do not consume' notice remains in place for Three Mile House customers

It is hoped by staff at Monaghan County Council that the do not consume notice will be lifted by Thursday.

A 'do not consume' notice for all customers supplied by Three Mile House & Togan Public Water Supply Scheme still remains in place.

The warning which was first issued on Friday afternoon, due to elevated levels of manganese, was discussed at a Monaghan County meeting yesterday.

According to a spokesperson from Monaghan County Council, it is "hoped" the situation will be be rectified in the coming days.

Despite this, Cllr Hugh McElvaney described the situation as "extremely difficult" for the customers who are impacted.

He also criticised the "lack" of warning or notice that people received from the council and the water supply scheme.

Tankered water is still being provided as an alternative water supply to customers in Three Mile House.

Meanwhile, customers are reminded follow HSE advice and use their own containers when taking water from the tanker and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.
