23 schools in Cavan and Monaghan are set to benefit under the 2022 Summer Works Scheme.
Minister for Education, Norma Foley, announced the investment of €3.65 million today.
14 primary and 2 post primary schools in Cavan, and 9 primary and 4 post primary schools in Monaghan will now see a raft of of improvement works that will include ventilation, mechanical and electrical,
Deputy Brendan Smith said today's investment marked an "important day" for schools across the region.
He also highlighted a new measure this year which will see play areas and yards upgraded in many of the schools that are in receipt of the funding.
"A range of valuable improvement and upgrading works will be carried out in schools across Cavan and Monaghan as a result of this funding," said Deputy Smith.
"There is a new measure whereby yards and play areas can be upgraded to ensure that heath and safety is adequately catered for."
