The Environment Minister says businesses in Monaghan must use ingenuity in moving to more carbon-friendly ways of working.

Eamon Ryan was responding to Sinn Fein's Matt Carthy, who said a proposed ban on the use of horticultural peat would kill the local mushroom industry.

The Carrickmacross TD said the Green Party in government has a history of introducing "token measures" that clamps down on local communities.

Eamon Ryan says businesses in the region must examine how they can make carbon-efficient methods of operating profitable, and that the local economy must be "centre stage" in this:
