The Government is expected to lead the country to a "personal responsibility" model of public health guidelines.

It's not expected that extra Covid restrictions will be put in place in border counties.

The rate of Covid-19 in Monaghan, Donegal and Cavan remains significantly higher than the rest of the country.

However, Professor Sam McConkey from the Royal College of Surgeons says asymptomatic spread isn't as big a concern because of the high vaccine uptake rate.

He told Shannonside Northern Sound that tightening restrictions isn't the only way to prevent outbreaks.
