Face-coverings look set to be made mandatory on public transport as capacity increases to deal with extra volumes of people going to work.
The cabinet is expected to approve moving to phase three of the easing of coronavirus restrictions this evening.
Today could see the final cabinet meeting for this group of Ministers if a new government is formed tomorrow.
And their last act is likely to be approving moving to phase three of the easing of lockdown restrictions.
That means from Monday most of the country will re-open.
Hairdressers, barbers, gyms, pools, cinemas and churches will all be allowed to open with social distancing and some restrictions on numbers.
A maximum of 50 people will be allowed at indoor events and 200 outdoors.
The restrictions on movement will also be lifted allowing people to travel anywhere within Ireland.
It's expected there will be a discussion on foreign travel and air bridges with other countries that have a handle on the spread of the virus.
Transport Minister Shane Ross will also recommend to his colleagues that facemasks be made mandatory on public transport.
Capacity on public transport will be increased to 50% to account for more people going to work, but that will be conditional on wearing a facemask or covering.
Cabinet Ministers will meet in Dublin Castle at around 3pm for what will likely be the last major act of this government.
